Hello –

November is National Family Caregivers Month, which is the perfect opportunity to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. This year's theme is #caregivinghappens, which is a wonderful reminder that caregiving can happen to any of us at any time, it's not something that we can plan for or schedule at our convenience. I am in constant awe of the resilience and strength of the caregivers I know. And at NMTS we are amazed by the dedication of all the caregivers we see every week. Whether you are a family member, friend, or agency staff, we are grateful for you. Not only do we know how important you are to the people you care for, we know that our programs would not exist without your time, energy, and support. We also want to remind you how important it is for you to take care of yourself. So if you are a caregiver and you have not cared for your own physical or mental health today, now is your chance to take a few minutes for you! Step outside and take in the fall foliage, put on your favorite music, pour yourself a cup of tea, or walk a couple of laps around your living room. You can also check out the National Alliance for Caregiving for additional ideas and resources. And we are hoping to start new caregiver support groups at NMTS, which will include respite care for your loved ones, so please keep an eye out for those in the near future!
