Down for Love: Valentine’s Day Mixer

Join us for a joyful and inclusive Valentine’s Day Mixer designed for adults with developmental disabilities who are interested in building meaningful friendships—or exploring romantic connections, if they choose.

This event offers a welcoming, supportive space to connect, laugh, and enjoy the evening together. Guests will enjoy catered appetizers, mocktails, games, and guided conversation in a relaxed, fun setting. Whether you’re coming with hopes of meeting someone special or simply looking to socialize, everyone is welcome.

What to Expect

  • A safe, structured environment focused on respectful and consensual interaction

  • Optional pre-event survey allowing participants to indicate whether they’re interested in friendship, dating, or both

  • Staff present throughout the event to provide support and ensure conversations remain comfortable and appropriate

  • Conversation cards at tables to help spark easy, engaging dialogue

Dress Code: Casual, date-night, or formal—come dressed however you feel most comfortable and confident.

Caregivers and guardians are encouraged to talk with participants ahead of time about what they hope to gain from the event and share any helpful insights with staff.

Jason Eady: Live Performance & Q&A

Join us on Sunday, February 22 at 2:00 PM at NMTS for a FREE live performance and Q&A with acclaimed country singer-songwriter Jason Eady.

Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, Jason Eady draws inspiration from bluegrass, Don Williams, and Willie Nelson, crafting music known for its authenticity and storytelling. This special event will also feature an appearance by The Note-Ables, making it a truly memorable afternoon.

While this event is free to attend, a $25 suggested donation is encouraged by the For The Song Foundation. All funds raised will go directly to the artist. The foundation exists to support nationally touring, critically acclaimed artists and bring exceptional live music to communities—fostering meaningful connections between artists and the Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe region.

Led by certified sound healer, Nichole Schembre. Enjoy a meditative experience that bathes you in sound waves produced by instruments such as crystal singing bowls, percussion, and chimes. Sound baths encourage a meditative state through the vibrations and frequencies of the instruments, which can lead to a release of tension and a feeling of calm. A great way to de-stress!

$10 per person - Ages 12+ welcome

Registration and payment through THIS LINK - limited attendance. Walk-ins may be available, if there is room.

Comfy dress code. Blanket/pillow/mat encouraged. Participants generally lie on the floor to enjoy this experience. Chairs will be available.

Spring Recital

We’re looking forward to our annual Spring Recital where musicians, singers, songwriters and dancers will take the stage.

Each year there’s an eclectic mix of talent as the performers share what they’ve been working on in their sessions with their friends and family. Some will be taking the spotlight for the first time, while others have been performing for years, but ALL of them have been working hard to prepare for the recital.

This event is free to attend, with donations always appreciated.

The recital will take place from 10:00–11:00am, followed by a one-hour break, and will resume from 12:00–1:00pm.

ADA Law “Know Your Rights” Webinar

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 12:00–1:00 pm (PST), the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities is hosting a virtual Lunch & Learn on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

This session, “Know Your Rights – ADA Law”, will be presented via Zoom by Ednin D. Martinez, Assistant to the United States Attorney in the Civil Division, and will cover the protections the ADA provides and why they matter.

At NMTS, we’ll be tuning in together! Local disability advocate Mary Bryant will be on site to help guide discussion and support participants as we engage with the Zoom session. We’ll also provide snacks and space for note-taking.

David's Rhinestone Cowboy Dance Party

Hosted by the Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada (dsnnn).

David is taking over the first night of the Lucky Few Fall Festival and hosting a Disco Dance Party! 

Come dressed in your rhinestone cowboy gear or Halloween Costume and get ready for pizza and dancing!

This event is free with an optional $5 donation. The party is open to all ages. Children under the age of 12 must have a guardian stay for the duration of the party, but we encourage parents of all attendees to stay. Many parents stayed last year and spent time with David's parents and it was a blast! 

This event is in partnership with us (Note-Able Music Therapy Services) and will take place at our building.

Community leaders, therapists, and lived-experience advocates will gather for a candid panel discussion on mental health, resilience, and recovery.
